It is assumed that you need this information bad enough to grit your teeth and suffer through it.

This manual was printed in 1947, so when reading what it says about saws remember that it was written before the day of carbide saws.

Pay close attention to the instructions regarding the chain maintenance. The Mattison 202 is a wonderful machine but it will kill you, as will all rip saws, if you do not pay attention to proper maintenance.
